Quad biking can be arranged, and also the longest fuffi slide in South Africa is five minutes drive away. If water sports are your thing, you can go skiing and/or canoeing at Buffeljags Dam, by arrangement.

Wildlife Watching:

  • Bontebok National Park

  • De Hoop Nature Reserve

  • Pat Busch Game Drive

  • Whales, by plane, by boat, or from the beach

  • Marloth Mountain Reserve

  • Montagu Bird tree

Residents in Swellendam are lucky people! They are surrounded by three National Parks - Marloth Mountain Reserve, Bontebok Park, where you can see this rare endangered species of bok, and De Hoop Nature Reserve. The sea is only thirty minutes away, and whale watching is a must for visitors.

Being so near to three National Parks, the nearest wildlife is easy to find.  You won't find the Big Five near Swellendam, but there are many species of bok, zebras, porcupines, caracals, snakes and an abundance of amazing birds.  Dave and Amanda have devised a two/three day package which will not disappoint lovers of the animal kingdom.

Family Fun:

  • Visit the Faerie Sanctuary

  • Tractor-ride up to the highest peak

  • Play a round of golf

  • Go sea fishing

  • Swim in hot springs

  • Ride the horseback trail

  • Spend an afternoon on a family farm

Impangele is child friendly, but also Dave and Amanda work hard to ensure that the guests without children have a peaceful 'adult' time and enjoy their stay to the fullest. There are many places for children and teenagers to have a great time - within walking distance is the world famous Faerie Sanctuary, and a beautiful scenic drive through the Tradouw Pass will transport the family to the hot mineral springs.

Younger guests staying in Impangele Cottage are thrilled to discover a Playstation and games, and while they are thus engrossed Mum and Dad can take a three minute walk up the road to the most beautiful nine hole golf course in South Africa, where day membership is available.  Fishing, swimming, cycling, walking and horse-riding are all available for a healthy and active holiday.

Epicurean Experience:

  • Champagne and Canapés on arrival

  • Seven course banquet at local restaurant

  • Visit boutique wineries

  • Luxury picnic by the river

  • Visit to Youngberry Liqueur Farm

  • Enjoy a traditional Xhosa Meal

The wine farms in the area are spectacular, and David and Amanda are able to organise private cellar tours, as well as wine tasting in boutique wineries.  To ensure the safety of you and others on the road, they can organise transport and a driver for you if you want to spend a day sampling the best the area has to offer.  They will also provide you with a luxury picnic hamper to take with you, and you can sit by the river at one of the wine farms and wash down your picnic goodies with a bottle of local wine. Champagne breakfast at a wine farm or at Impangele is also on offer, and a stunning seven course banquet at Koornlands restaurant will complete this brilliant two/ three day package.

When you book at Impangele, make sure you enquire about Beauty’s traditional Xhosa meal.  There are many splendid restaurants in Swellendam, so you can eat very well, but for a taste of real Africa, Amanda and David’s housekeeper Beauty will cook you a special meal, and – if you are really brave you can wash it down with the traditional Xhosa Beer.   Twenty four hours notice is needed if you want to try this out.
